Study on the Factors Affecting of Job Satisfaction Between Self-Employed and Salaried Physicians in Korea

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting of job satisfaction between self-employed and salaried physicians in Korea. By using the data of ¡®2016 Korean Physician Survey¡¯. Of the 8,564 physicians who responded to 2016 Korean Physician Survey, 3,337 self-employed physicians and 2,652 salaried physicians who were directly treating patients at clinics, local hospitals, general hospitals, and tertiary hospitals were selected as the final analysis subjects. As a result of the ordinal logistic regression analysis to find out the factors affecting the job satisfaction of self-employed and salaried physicians, the common variables affecting the job satisfaction of self-employed and salaried physicians are statistically significant at the working area (metropolitan area), social status And prestige, stress, relationship with patients, income, autonomy of medical treatment, and regulation. The only statistically significant variables affecting job satisfaction of self-employed physicians were relationship with Employees, administrative work, and average weekday working hours. The only statistically significant variables affecting job satisfaction of salaried physicians were type of working medical institution and Relationship with peer physician. Therefore the doctor's medical autonomy is ensured, and doctors should eradicate unethical behavior by themselves in order to recover trust. And the inefficient administrative work system should be improved by eliminating unnecessary regulations.
